JC1 Economics Headstart Programme
Get a head start on JC Economics before the academic year begins.
Designed for students entering JC1 in 2027, our Headstart Classes introduce the essential ways economists think, analyse and make decisions — so students begin JC with confidence rather than encountering Economics for the first time.
Students will learn:
- Rational Decision-Making — how individuals, firms and governments make choices
- Opportunity Cost — understanding the real cost behind every decision
- Economic Frameworks — structured ways to break down and analyse economic problems
- Thinking at the Margin — why good decisions often depend on the next unit, not the total
- Applying Economics to the Real World — using economic concepts to understand everyday choices, businesses and government policies
- JC Economics Foundations — building the analytical thinking and vocabulary needed for more advanced topics ahead
The goal is not to rush through the JC syllabus. It is to build the economic intuition and thinking frameworks that make Economics much easier to understand once JC begins.
Start JC1 already thinking like an economist.

Mr Koh has been of great help in helping me better understand economic concepts by delivering them in a clear and concise manner. He offers tried and tested answering techniques to help ace exam questions while also providing great insight into the subject outside of the curriculum.
Initially when I took H1 ECONS, I felt like I was waffling through the subject. People around me said it was common sense and it was apparent I lacked it. C and Ds seemed like Godsend to me in my common tests and prelims. However, Melvin is a God of common sense and he made sure to beat some into me. ECONS was easier with his Godly teachings and from there, I understood how to score an A in Alevels. Indeed, my grade jumped from D in ECONS to A in Alevels. Glory to MELVIN..
Mr. Koh's exceptional teaching skills and unwavering dedication helped me secure an A at A Levels. From the very first session, Mr. Koh demonstrated his profound knowledge of economics and his passion for imparting that knowledge to his students. His ability to simplify complex economic theories and principles into understandable concepts is truly remarkable. He has a unique talent for making even the most challenging topics accessible and engaging, through his easy-to-remember acronyms.
