At first, I constantly struggled to grasp how the subject worked and felt extremely lost whenever it came to competing tutorial questions. Mr Koh has consistently delivered tried and tested answering techniques, packaged into memorable acronyms and collated into highly effective and useful revision documents.

I had joined fairly late, May of JC2, and I was very worried whether I could catch up and turn around my failing H2 Economics grade in such short time. Mr Koh's thorough and very concise consolidated notes greatly helped me to understand how to approach Economics concepts in order to write common essays.

Although Econs was definitely an extremely intimidating subject, especially for me as someone who struggles to make sense of economic concepts, Mr Koh’s notes and lessons really helped to structure the way i think and approach econs questions that ultimately made a world of a difference in my learning. he also provided a safe and comfortable space to ask questions even through the zoom platform, and greatly encouraged me to do more practices and learn from my mistakes instead of dwelling on past failures..

JC 1 Economics Tuition Overview

JC1 is where students build the foundation that shapes their later A-Level performance. In our classes, students learn Economics as a subject of decision-making, application, and evaluation, not just memorisation. As part of our jc economics tuition, we help students strengthen core microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts, then show them how to turn those ideas into clearer essays and case study answers. This also prepares students for the higher-level demands of a level economics tuition in JC2. The approach reflects the Singapore H1 and H2 Economics syllabuses, with emphasis on the central economic problem, markets, and the national or international economy, together with application, interpretation, and evaluation skills.

  • Build a strong foundation in core topics such as scarcity, choice, demand and supply, market failure, and macroeconomic policy
  • Learn how to apply concepts to essays and case studies instead of relying on copied phrases
  • Develop evaluation skills early so answers become more balanced, precise, and exam-ready

JC 1 Economics Tuition FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Parents should look beyond “more practice papers” and focus on whether the tuition programme helps students adapt to the very different demands of JC Economics. At JC1 level, many students struggle not because they are “weak”, but because they are unfamiliar with how to think, analyse, and write like an Economics student.

A strong JC1 economics tuition programme should therefore help students:

  • build clear conceptual understanding instead of memorising blindly
  • learn how to apply concepts to unfamiliar real-world contexts
  • master essay and case study structures early
  • avoid content overload through concise, exam-focused frameworks
  • develop confidence gradually before topics snowball in JC2

At TET Economics, lessons focus heavily on structured answering techniques, application skills, and exam thinking habits. Students are trained using concise frameworks, mindmaps, essay structures, and exam-simulation approaches to reduce confusion and improve clarity from the start.

While both H1 and H2 students study core Economics concepts, H2 students go deeper into analytical rigour, essay evaluation, and breadth of content. H2 students also sit for a full essay paper in addition to case studies, which requires stronger writing stamina and evaluation skills.

For H1 students, tuition often focuses on:

  • understanding key concepts clearly
  • answering case study questions efficiently
  • improving explanation and application skills
  • simplifying difficult theories into manageable frameworks

For H2 students, lessons additionally emphasise:

  • essay structuring and argument development
  • deeper evaluation and higher-order analysis
  • time management across Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • handling more complex macroeconomic and microeconomic discussions

At TET, students are grouped and guided according to their syllabus requirements so that both H1 and H2 students receive targeted support relevant to their examination format.

Yes. In fact, many JC1 students discover that understanding content alone is not enough to score well in Economics.

Students often lose marks because they:

  • misread the question requirements
  • provide generic explanations without context
  • struggle to structure arguments clearly
  • write descriptive instead of analytical answers
  • fail to evaluate effectively

JC1 economics tuition can help students build these answering skills early before poor habits become entrenched.

At TET Economics, students are trained using structured answering frameworks such as:

  • clear essay flow and argument sequencing
  • evaluation techniques
  • contextual analysis methods
  • question interpretation drills
  • case study annotation strategies

Lessons focus heavily on bridging the gap between “I understand the topic” and “I can score under exam conditions”.

Online and hybrid tuition can be highly effective when lessons remain interactive, structured, and exam-focused.

Many students today value the flexibility of:

  • attending lessons from home
  • revisiting recordings for revision
  • accessing digital resources between lessons
  • learning even during busy school schedules

However, effectiveness depends heavily on lesson design. Passive online lectures alone are usually insufficient.

At TET Economics, the hybrid learning model is designed around:

  • guided explanation and application
  • active discussion of question requirements
  • exam-oriented answering strategies
  • access to recordings and revision resources
  • structured notes and mindmaps to reduce content clutter

This allows students to combine flexibility with consistent exam preparation.

Ideally, students should start once they realise they are struggling to:

  • understand lectures consistently
  • keep up with tutorials
  • apply concepts to questions
  • write coherent Economics answers

For many students, this happens within the first few months of JC1 because Economics is a completely new subject.

Starting earlier often helps students:

  • build stronger foundations
  • avoid accumulating misconceptions
  • develop answering techniques before exams approach
  • gain confidence before topics become more demanding in JC2

That said, students can still improve significantly later in the year with the right support and structured revision.
